A 1950’s Heals sideboard and dining suite by A. J. Milne

A really stylish dining suite from Heals, by leading designer A. J. Milne, this suite is in ebonised and steamed beech veneers and in excellent condition. The dining table has a distinctive satin black metal under frame which accents struts and fixings to present an industrial/modernist style – very unusual for the period and looks contemporary even today. There is a side table which cleverly doubles as a dining extension making an overall length of 205cm for larger parties. The sideboard is very cool and distinctive, and features neat peg handles and ebonised woodgrain front. There are two armchairs and four dining chairs which we have resprayed in satin black and recovered in a black and white tweed cloth. The chairs are generous in width and great looking with neatly angled strutted backs. We also have the original Hire Purchase agreement from Heals and their 1956 catalogue photos and prices!
