A 1940’s ‘clam’ Musling chair attributed to Philip Arctander

The Musling chair or clam chair , attributed to Philip Arctander probably for Nordisk Staal Furniture Central, looks to be in the original fabric with two fabric patches to the back above the legs, the legs and armrests in stained hardwood. this design came before the popular Ake early Ikea chair which has wings.

Philip Arctander 1916-1994 was a Danish architect and designer of the Muslinge chair, or Clam chair in 1944 and the armchair was shown in the store NY FORM in Copenhagen that year.
The model has previously been attributed to Martin Olsen and Viggo Boesen. The armchair has been produced by various furniture manufacturers.
